RPI develops world’s first visible-light transmission link

Rensselaer Center for Light Enabled Systems Applications, at RPI, has developed the world’s first high-speed visible-light transmission link with a fully integrated microchip receiver. The VLC technology uses LED light instead of RF signals for high-speed wireless communications. RPI collaborated with researchers from other institutions on this project using NYSERNet’s R&E network.
