Social Media Intern
We’re looking to hire a Fall 2017 NYSERNet intern to work in our downtown Syracuse, N.Y., office. The successful candidate will gather, research, write and post about science and research conducted at some of New York’s leading colleges, universities, museums and research centers.
The Social Media Intern will track RSS feeds, speak to college and university media relations representatives, occasionally interview principal researchers and scientists, and write pieces that will appear on nysernet.org, in social media and other longer-form digital and print publications. You’ll also use your social media skills to promote workshops, seminars and NYSERNet conferences.
Knowledge and experience requirements
You should have strong written and oral communications skills, preferably journalism training, and a working knowledge of AP Style. You should be social media savvy, particularly with LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. In addition to excellent grammar and spelling skills, you should be comfortable working with and talking to people in and around higher education. Background, interest or knowledge of science, technology and research is preferable.

Compensation and work schedule
This is a paid internship. All work will be performed on-site at NYSERNet’s Syracuse office, and will require about 20 hours per week. This internship may extend into the spring and summer 2018. NYSERNet is an Equal Opportunity M/F/V/D employer.
