Technology education is an important part of NYSERNet’s mission, and we want to help you stay current with the latest networking tools and technologies so you can continue to deliver high-quality services to your users. That’s why we offer a variety of workshops, hands-on seminars, retreats and conferences at convenient locations around the state.
Our technical workshops – often held in Syracuse, Albany and New York City – offer unique insights into critical technologies and teach you how those technologies can be successfully deployed in campus settings. Recent workshops have included:
- Fiber optic maintenance and troubleshooting
- BGP and routing
- DNSSEC with a DNS primer
- Network security
NYSERNet staff trainers bring decades of expertise, real-world examples and hands-on exercises to each class. They encourage active participation and build in opportunities for students to share experiences and best practices with each other.
The NYSERNet Conference
Each fall, more than 150 experts and sponsors gather for The NYSERNet Conference a five-track conference that is presented by the NYSERNet community. Participants learn about the latest network technology, trends, and best practices, and share practical advice. The tracks are comprised of advanced networking technology and infrastructure, lastest security mitigation and response techniques, governance and compliance challenges and solutions, academic and research computing support, and professional development.
Each summer, many of the state’s leading chief information officers gather for NYSERNet’s New York State Conference of Higher Education CIOs. The two-day conference conveniently is held in Central New York, where CIOs meet to exchange ideas and share experiences with their peers from New York’s higher education community. Panel discussions and expert speakers lead conversations about issues and challenges facing today’s campus IT leaders.
