Columbia Engineers Develop Flexible Lithium Battery for Wearable Electronics

Engineers at Columbia University have developed a high-performance flexible lithium battery for wearable electronics. Led by Yuan Yang, assistant professor of materials science and engineering in the department of applied physics and mathematics at Columbia Engineering, researchers have created a prototype of a Li-ion battery modeled after the human spine, thus allowing greater flexibility while maintaining a stable charge. Columbia University is one of many institutions that uses NYSERNet’s R&E network.
