Syracuse, NY (July 2, 2018) –Stephen Kankus has been selected by the Board of Directors to take charge of the executive leadership of NYSERNet.org. Kankus brings over 24 years of operational leadership to the organization.
Kankus will be leveraging the strong financial and technical position of the organization to continue connecting research and education enterprises within the state and region reinforcing NYSERNet’s mission and expanding outreach.

His demonstrated ability and his long-term dedicated service to the organization make him an ideal candidate to lead the continued development of the New York State Research and Education network as a model for the nation,” said John E. Kolb, P.E., Vice President for Information Services and Technology & Chief Information Officer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Kankus will continue the expansion of the R&E infrastructure throughout New York State and with strategic connectors regionally and nationally. Additionally, Kankus will continue adding increased value of services to member organizations.

Kankus has been an active NYSERNet employee since 1994, serving in roles such as Research Associate, Director of Education Services, Director of Operations, and Chief Operating Officer.
